SUP The Creek 2025 Celebrates a Decade of Adventure
On October 18-19, 2025, the SUP The Creek event marked its remarkable 10th anniversary in the stunning coastal regions of Kingsbridge and Salcombe, Devon. This festival isn't just a paddleboarding event; it’s a vibrant celebration of community, skill, and the love of water sports. Hosted by Waterborn SUP, the festival has become a cornerstone of the UK SUP racing calendar, renowned for its challenging courses that test paddlers' resilience against the elements, including wind, rain, and varying water conditions.
From Challenging Races to Community Spirit
Despite being affected by inclement weather, the spirit of competition remained high. On Saturday, the distance races took place, albeit shortened due to adverse conditions. Participants showed incredible determination, with Annie Page claiming triumph in the women’s division, while Will Keetley emerged victorious in the men’s race. The subsequent day, however, faced cancellation of the highly anticipated technical race. Nevertheless, the energetic beach sprint races were held, offering a chance for participants to showcase their speed and agility despite the challenging weather.
A Key Fixture in SUP Racing
Being part of the GBSUP National Paddle Racing Series adds prestige to this event, affirming its significance within the paddling community. Results from SUP The Creek contribute to overall series standings, thereby determining eligibility and rankings for paddlers competing throughout the year. This year’s modifications, including the introduction of a beach sprint race, drew excitement, promising an exhilarating experience for paddlers of all skill levels.
Inclusivity and Fun at the Heart of the Festival
One of the most commendable aspects of SUP The Creek is its inclusivity. The festival features categories for juniors, leisure paddlers, and newcomers eager to dive into the world of stand-up paddleboarding. This emphasis on community engagement elevates the event beyond mere competition; it's about forging connections and fostering a love for paddleboarding among diverse participants.
Weathering the Storms - A Symbol of Resilience
The unpredictable weather in Devon served as a metaphor for many athletes’ journeys in SUP racing. Every gust of wind and every wave reflects the challenges paddlers face while pursuing their passion. This year’s disruptions displayed not just adaptability in racing formats, but also the shared understanding among paddlers that the heart of the sport lies beyond the competitive edge—it's about community, encouragement, and shared experiences amidst the thrill of adventure.

As we commemorate this exciting decade of SUP The Creek, the attention shifts toward future events and what they may hold for paddlers.
